BASIC FUNCTION:

Investigate formal and informal complaints that fall under a variety of federal regulations such as Title VII, Title IX, Title VI, Americans with Disabilities Act, Affirmative Action, etc. Provide support in coordinating and implementing the university’s Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity programs and the ADA accommodation process in accordance with university policy. Provide on-going data analysis and audit support for affirmative action and other key areas of the division of people, culture and belonging and university stakeholders. Serve as a deputy Title IX Coordinator under the direction of the Gender Equity Director and Title IX Coordinator. Reports to the Director of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

Conduct investigations of formal and informal complaints that fall under a variety of federal regulations; write reports and issue findings of fact, determination, and recommendations in complaints.

Assist with preparation, communication, and implementation of Affirmative Action Plan by providing analysis and insight into the quantitative/statistical analysis and data relationships within the plans. Analyze data quantitatively and qualitatively to identify trends, strengths and opportunities for improvement in recruitment, and achievement of affirmative action goals.

Provide statistical information for division heads, colleges, and departments regarding goals and availability for faculty and staff.

Monitor and audit accuracy and integrity of transactions in the human resources system and other stand-alone systems to ensure complete and accurate transfer of data from each system in preparation of affirmative action plans and compliance requests and/or reports.

Review and analyze applicant pools for active job searches for compliance and equity; may input recruitment profile availability data into job applicant tracking system.

Assist Section 504/ADA Coordinator (Director EOAA) with processing and facilitating employee ADA workplace accommodation requests/inquiries.

Serve as Deputy Title IX Coordinator and at times work collaboratively with Office of Gender Equity and Title IX, Sexual Relationship Violence Support Services (SRVSS) office, and other university stakeholders.

Develop and facilitate training to university stakeholders on all compliance topics such as Title VII, Title IX, Title VI, Americans with Disabilities Act, Affirmative Action, etc.

Represent EOAA by serving on various department, division, and university committees; attend outreach events to promote compliance, equal opportunity and affirmative action.

May assist with coordinating requests for interpreting and closed-captioning for faculty, staff, job applicants and visitors to campus.

Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in related field and three years’ experience in conducting investigations, complaint and grievance resolution, human resources administration, student life, resident life, or higher education administration. Must be able to work nontraditional hours when necessary, including evenings and weekends.

Master's degree in related field and one year experience in conducting investigations, complaint and grievance resolution, human resources administration, student life, resident life, or higher education. Must be able to work nontraditional hours when necessary, including evenings and weekends.

-OR-

Associate's degree in related field and 5 years' experience in conducting investigations, complaint and grievance resolution, human resources administration, student life, resident life, or higher education. Must be able to work nontraditional hours when necessary, including evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience or training in management, affirmative action program development, Title IX, EEO laws, Title VII, Title VI, student life, resident life, trauma-informed interviewing skills and ADA and accessibility compliance.

Knowledge Of:

A variety of federal and state laws and regulations relative to harrassment, discrimination and employment *

Skill In:

Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication *
Prioritizing and organizing work effectively and independently meeting deadlines
Working with sensitive and confidential information
Remaining neutral and impartial when conducting/gathering facts for investigations
Drafting departmental memorandums and investigatory reports with supporting documentation, findings and recommendations/resolutions
Identification, research, analysis, and resolution of problems using statistical techniques and common research methods
Development of a variety of alternatives and make appropriate decisions *
Tactfully and effectively handle confrontation situations
Public speaking/conducting training *
Creating MS PowerPoint training materials *
Building/creating spreadsheets and pivot tables in MS Excel
Effectively collecting, interpreting, and summarizing data and legal requirements
Conflict resolution and problem solving related to investigations
