BASIC FUNCTION:

To serve as a liaison between the College of Podiatric Medicine (CPM) faculty and students with the goal of optimizing educational experiences and outcomes. Coordinate all student accessibility programs and services.  Reports to designated supervisor.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

Develop and manage CPM’s student-to-student tutoring program including tutor recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, supervision and payroll functions.

Work in a proactive manner with faculty to develop and optimize curriculum support and National Boards preparation; monitor CPM National Board remediation policies.

Develop instructional and educational support materials; maintain archived materials and distribute them in support of curriculum goals and objectives.

Assess individual education needs through screening and counseling; refer student for cognitive assessment and other support services as needed.

Research, recommend and refer students to various technologies to enhance the educational experience.

Advise CPM students, faculty, and staff on student accessibility-related accommodations and concerns while serving as an advocate for the office of Student Accessibility Services.

Facilitate the appropriate accommodations and various adaptive technologies for Student Accessibility Services (SAS) on the CPM campus.  

Coordinate SAS for the CPM campus including the evaluation of medical/psychological provider documentation and determination of appropriate accommodations in accordance with federal law and university policy

Work collaboratively with the Office of General Counsel and the SAS team members throughout the KSU community.

Participate in SAS professional development opportunities to keep abreast of new technology, resources and supports for CPM SAS students.

Coordinate SAS exam accommodations for the CPM campus with the Office of Academic Operations.

Maintain highly confidential student information and records in keeping with University policy and procedure.

Maintain the CPM Educational Resources and Student Accessibility Services e-catalog web pages.

Serve on various department, division and University committees.

Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s degree in education or a relevant field. Four years college, university, and/or post-secondary educational experience developing and implementing curriculum for a diverse student populations, and professional experience in providing academic accommodations to students with disabilities in a post-secondary environment.

License/Certification:

Not applicable.

Preferred Qualifications:

Doctorate in education or relevant field. Experience developing and implementing curriculums with specialization in science and/or medicine. Experience using and administering distance learning. Fluency in Spanish. Experience with assisting in the coordination of service (e.g. special equipment acquisition and knowledge of assistive technology, etc.) for students with disabilities at the post-secondary level.
