BASIC FUNCTION:

Assists in the delivery of programs and services offered to underrepresented and diverse student populations. Reports to designated person in an academic unit.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 
Assist in implementing retention, persistence and graduation programs for diverse student populations.

Provide direct service to students from underrepresented populations through individual and group meetings.

Serve on college and university committees that support the delivery of efforts that positively impact the success of underrepresented students.

Assist with recruiting efforts for new underrepresented students in assigned college.

Serve as an advocate for under-represented, underserved students.

Maintain relationships with university partners and colleagues.

May maintain website for assigned area.

Monitor student records.

Hire, train and supervise student workers.

Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. One year experience in higher education, diversity outreach or relevant field.

Knowledge Of:

Personal computer applications (i.e. MS Office Suite) *
Student success practices for diverse students *

Skill In:

Written, verbal and interpersonal communications *

Ability To:

Learn /apply basic student recruitment / outreach / retention functions *
Work with diverse populations of students to identify basic student needs for referrals using appropriate academic and career resources *
