BASIC FUNCTION:

Provide mental health care and education to students and the university community. Reports to Dean of the College of Podiatric Medicine.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

Provide diagnostic assessments, individual counseling, group counseling, walk-in support, and crisis intervention & support.

Provide consultation to faculty and staff regarding student mental health, behavior concerns and managing psychological emergencies, and disruptive behavior and conflict management.

Provide individual and group psychotherapy.

Develop relationships with local providers for referrals and assist with those transitioning to a local provider.

Serve on various department, division, and University committees including as a consultant on the University’s Care Team (behavioral intervention team).

Collect and analyze data of counseling trends and utilization and provide an annual report of services to KSUCPM administration.

Provide oversight and management of departmental budget.

Develop and maintain a departmental evaluation of services provided to counseling clients.

Complete accommodations requests paperwork, when clinically indicated, for KSUCPM and Prometric testing accommodations.

Coordinate care and delivery of services and collect utilization data with Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) contracted services.

Develop and conduct mental health programming to educate students and the college community.

Serve as point of contact for the College of Podiatric Medicine (CPM) for all student mental health and wellness programming, including Kent State University Campus Health Initiative and similar initiatives.

Maintain electronic client records.

Manage health and wellness webpages for CPM that include emergency services information.

Seek additional supervision and consultation from other mental health clinicians employed at Kent State University as needed for clinical or administrative consults.

Supervise students and/or provide functional guidance of support staff or other employees who work on a project or assignment on a temporary or intermittent basis.

Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or related field. Three years of experience in clinical counseling or related field. Must be able to occasionally work evenings and weekends.

License/Certification:

LPCC-S – Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervisory Endorsement (LPCC-S) in the State of Ohio.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience counseling graduate or medical students. Experience in crisis counseling or emergency/crisis interventions. Experience utilizing Titanium software for electronic medical records.

Knowledge Of:

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) *
Healthcare Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) *

Skill In:

Verbal, written and intepersonal communication *
Personal computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite *
Utilizing electronic medical records *

Ability To:

Work nontraditional hours as needed, including evenings and weekends *
